Director’s Note

It is always difficult for me to talk about films. And it is almost impossible for me to talk about my films. Because I have to say this is my starting point, this is what I want to say or show, that thing inspires me, and so on. The fact that what I told up to now is all lie. I never tried to show or say anything and nothing inspired me but myself. I always try to discover myself in a purely cinematic way. That is why, my films always lack a story and are never linear, they are always multidimensional within complex time perceptions. There is no story that inspires me to make a film or there is nothing in this world that has enough power to inspire me to make a film. Maybe they can inspire for a moment to live but never to make a film because it is totally a different story. The reason why I make a film is very simple – I just can make it. I don’t know how far I can go,

I don’t know what I will discover in this unknown part of cinema, I don’t know if is there a thing called “human nature” or “nature of cinema” but once again I want to say that cinema has not been yet discovered and this is the only thing that drives me to carry the camera and to capture what is not captured or what is can not be captured. Yes, this is the only thing that inspires me to capture what is uncapturable, to grasp what does not exist, to try to see what can’t live in light. Once you understand that the camera is not a physical object, you start to make a cinema. And one always has to ask himself – is it you or the camera that sees the indecipherable because the spirit is inside the camera not inside you? “Sermon to the Birds” is my latest work, my last move in this path tries to go closely to the nature of things that we call this magical thing, a cinema! I don’t know what the “nature of the cinema” is but I am pretty sure that the “nature of things” is cinema! Because I always believed that

What is visceral is celestial.
What is personal is universal.
